(ca. 15 min. drive from Kotor)
Perast is a nice little village in the Kotor Bay. From the architecture you can tell that it must have been a rich village with a lot of 'palaces' (big stone houses of noble families) and churches. The appeal of Perast lies in the two churches on the two islets in front of Perast: St. George's and Our Lady of the Rock (Gospa od Skrpelja). The local boat captains are willing to take you there for a couple of Euros. Perast is a nice quiet place, where you can enjoy a walk along the shore or enjoy the beautiful view over the Boka Kotorska Bay while sitting in one of the bars or restaurants. Many British have settled in and around Perast, turning typical stone houses into second homes.
In the centre of Perast is hotel Conte, a small hotel with restaurant, and in many houses you can find Bed and Breakfast.
Near Perast, on the way to Kotor is one of the best restaurants in Montenegro 'Stari Mlini' between Kotor and Perast. The restaurant lies on a creek, has two old mills (Stari Mlini in Montenegrin) and is decorated with traditional kitchen utensils. The specialty of the restaurant is forrel which comes in honey or with herbs.
